Making 5

We are learning the numbers that join together to make 5.  We used 2 sided counters to find out lots of different combinations of numbers. 

The Navy Band

We had a wonderful time at the Navy Band on Friday.  Room 4 looked amazing and enjoyed every minute of the concert.

How long is Mrs Clapperton?

While we were measuring how much the hungry caterpillar ate we got a bit side tracked and decided to measure how long Mrs Clapperton was.  She was very kind and lay down so we could use the blocks to measure her.

Preparing for our visit to the Marae

Every Thursday morning we join with Room 6 and 7 to learn Te Reo Maori and Tikanga.  At the end of the term we will be visiting a local Marae as a whole school.  We have been learning to use the poi, playing with rakau sticks and knucklebones,  retelling the story of Maui and looking at lots of pictures.

Our Airport

Many of the boys in Room 4 have been making and flying paper planes.  They have had great fun flying their planes together outside and decided to draw their very own airport.

Days of the Week

With the help of the Hungry Caterpillar we have been learning about the days of the week.  We worked with our learning buddies on ordering the days of the week.  Then we used uniblocks and hundreds boards to find out how much the caterpillar had eaten.
